Obama pardoned 78 inmates and granted commutations to 148 others right before the holidays.
Obama has granted clemency to many inmates who were imprisioned for non-violent drug offenses, many of which were first-time felonies.
So far, he has issued over 148 pardons and shortened the sentences of 1,176 others. The White House has suggested Obama plans to issue more before his last day of office January 19th.
To date, his has issued the third-most pardons, coming behind former President Bill Clinton with 396 and George W. Bush with 189.
