Migos’ CULTURE II is good, but CULTURE was Better

“This real rap, no mumble.”

Atlanta superstar rap trio Migos released highly anticipated “CULTURE II” album at midnight and after listening all day, the album is good, but it’s predecessor, CULTURE, was better.

Although CULTURE II follows the same theme of CULTURE, detailing an over-extravagant lifestyle of Patek watches, designer threads, private jets, thots and of course, the almighty sport of trappin’, it missed the mark of tasteful editing that CULTURE had.

  • Honorable C Note
  • DJ Durel

  • 808 Godz

Quavo is also credited for producing a few tracks (that a producer is claiming he produced 👀).

With all of these superstar features and producer credits, why does nearly every song sound the same?

Takeoff was NOT left off CULTURE II

Migos had a GREAT year last year, but there was a staining Interview with Everyday Struggle Show’s Joe Budden, DJ Akademiks and Nadeska at the 2017 BET Awards aftershow that basically shitted on Takeoff. Pointing out what fans were already thinking about why Takeoff was absent on the group’s first Billboard 100 record, ‘Bad and Boujee’ and the infamous Takeoff response:

Do it look like I was left off Bad and Boujee?

The internet did not let Takeoff live that down and he carried the heat straight to the booth–and carried Quavo and Offset throughout the entire new album. Only real Migos fans and members of the culture alike know Takeoff has carried Migos unnoticeably since ‘Versace’.

Did Migos Double Album Length To Go Platinum?

Migos is joining the likes of Drake and Chris Brown with the long albums aka “playlists exclusive on xyz streaming service” for chart algorithm purposes. The more songs, especially loaded with features on an album=probability of success for said album to go “platinum” with RIAA’s new guidelines to include streaming services. A single can carry an entire album. It can!

CULTURE had limited features where the guest didn’t hang out too much longer after the assist on a track. You could hear the growth of the gang. CULTURE II has tracks, such as ‘White Sands’, that are over saturated with talent. CULTURE II mimics the earlier album with production too, starting off hard and grimy and mellowing out towards the outro. Problem is, the album is too long to feel the effect.

Migos brought trends to the hip-hop culture in the 2010’s–from lingo, dancing, even the Migos Flow. So is this the beginning of the end of an era? Or is it Time for the ATLiens to switch up the style?
